Elysia Vandenbussche is a ceramic artist living in Detroit, MI. At twelve years old she began ceramic classes at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center, received numerous silver and a gold key awards from the national Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, and graduated honors with a BFA from College for Creative Studies. After graduating in 2011, she established a private studio and continues her discipline of art in sculptural, conceptual expressions, and functional handmade objects as a full time woman owned studio business entrepreneur. Her work has been featured at an auction at Carnegie Hall NYC, retail stores and commercial spaces such as Whole Foods Market, Shinola, MOCAD, Anthology Coffee, and group exhibitions such as N’Namdi Center for Contemporary Art, Red Bull House of Art, CCS Alumni Exhibition, and including most recently COMM[UNITY] at Playground Detroit Gallery. Elysia has been published in the USA as well as internationally in Grazia Magazine (France). She is constantly investigating concepts within the diverse language of clay with an attention to detail in design and aesthetics.
